THE TRUE PERFECTION
of a painted window is to be SERENE, INTENSE, BRILLIANT, like flaming
jewellery: full of easily legible subjects, and exquisitely subtle,
yet simple, in its harmonies -

The word Luminette has been invented by us in our search for meaning and to show our ability to bring light, colour and the character of healing into peoples individual lives.
The Luminette is solidly designed to be moved, with a gentle feeling for sound, weight and shape, freedom of enjoyment and an appealing reflectiveness using the light source of candle and sunlight. In addition there is a choice of wearable angels and crosses.
They can be etched with a loved one's name as a discreet personal memorial and are quite specifically designed for this 'crossover' between the outwardly material and inwardly reflective worlds we share.
Luminettes are available in a multitude of designs and colours. Contact us for details and prices.
Explanation of the
Fruits and the
Gifts of the Spirit, Gerrards Cross
(illustrated above)
The central theme of the window
is formed by a cross of blinding light, whose composition is interpreted
as a living tree of life bearing the Fruits of the Spirit in its
branches, and The Gifts of the Spirit in its roots; with the whole
echoing James 1:22: "Be doers, not only hearers of the word."
The fruits of the spirit are arranged
as nine symbolic flowers on the tree to represent love, joy, peace,
patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self control.
(Galatians 5:22)
The gifts of the spirit balancing the fruits in the roots of the
tree are shown as brilliant star signs. The gifts, from Romans 12:6-9,
are: to proclaim Gods message according to your faith; to serve;
to teach; to encourage others; to give generously; to lead with
enthusiasm; to help cheerfully to love in all sincerity. The gifts
are also metioned in Ephesians 4:7, 11-13; and 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.
Around the central
theme are various important symbols of our faith.
At the top
of the window.
In
the top left hand corner are the Loaves and Fishes representing
the miracles of Jesus during his time on Earth. They also
represent God's continued healing love and power as he works his
wonders throughout the ages.
The top right hand corner of the window contains
the emblem of the United Reformed Church. In 1972, at its formation,
it was decided that its symbol would be an entwined Cross and
Fish.
In the centre of the window.
On the left is a Dove of Peace, a sign of the Holy
Spirit as seen at the Baptism of Jesus (Matthew 3:16). The dove
is embraced by Alpha and Omega - "I am the beginning and
the end," (Revelation 22:12-14).
On the right is the symbol for justice (a broken
chain), peace (a dove with the unity emblem of the fisherman's
boat of the 'World Council of Churches' emblazoned on its breast),
and the integrity of creation (green leaves).
Near the bottom of the window.
At the bottom left of the window is the monogram IHS, which is
often taken to mean, "In His Service" but are also the
first three Greek letters that make up the beginning of the words
- Jesus Christ God's Son Saviour.
The bottom right hand corner is a representation
of the Lamb of God, overlooking all and "Who is alone worthy
to receive power, wealth, wisdom, might, honour, glory and praise"
(Revelation 5:12) and is the cornerstone of our faith: "Behold
the Lamb of God - Jesus Christ our Lord."
Design for a Stained Glass Millennium Window
Holy Trinity, Sunningdale
The design is for a two light window in the sanctuary of Holy Trinity Church, Sunningdale. The left hand light shows the New Heaven - the Holy City descending through tears of purity from the universe beyond; like a bride! The planetary pattern reveals the contemporary alignment of Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and Mercury in the evenings of 2002.
The right hand light shows the New Earth amongst the elements of air, fire and water. In this earth's forming, the reflection of fire and light are in the water below. The moon, unchanged as we know it sits in a vortex of air, the only witness. The unique symbols of the atomic periodic table of material elements, iron, nickel, sulphur, silicon, carbon, magnesium and oxygen are recasting the New Earth against a setting of the New Heaven.
The design sponsored by The Reverend David Uffindell and the P.C.C. of Holy Trinity is a visual quest and asks the questions - what will the Holy City look like and how will the New Earth be formed?
